For a wildlife watching safari in Rwanda, you have got to know what you want to do then go to a destination. You can still go from one park to another and experience the differences in their own uniqueness or we can look at some of the parks below and see various wildlife.
Volcanoes National Park (Mountain gorillas)
Volcanoes national park is famous for its mountain gorillas. The best time for gorilla trekking is from December to February or June to September. Other months are also good but you might be inconvenienced by the rains. For a fabulous gorilla trekking safari, you will need to carry essentials like water proof hiking boots, rain jackets, drinking water, trousers, long sleeved shirts, inset repellents, gardening gloves, binoculars and many more.
While trekking gorillas, make sure you follow the rules and regulations for example no starring straight at gorillas eyes, not getting very close to the apes, cameras with flashlights are not allowed and many more. You are free to ask your guide any questions.
Akagera national park
This stunning national park is situated in the north eastern part of the country. You will be able to encounter some of some of Africa’s wildlife like elephants, warthogs, bush bucks, Buffalo and many more. Akagera apparently harbors all the big five game animals.
Nyungwe national park
Nyungwe forest national park is one of the parks in Rwanda where you will encounter thrilling primate experiences. The park boasts with tropical rain forests and the renowned canopy walk is one of the worlds best. Canopy walks in East Africa can only be found at Nyungwe forest national park.
Gishwati Mukura national park
Gishwati national park is one of the best places to do chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda. You will also encounter other primates like the black fronted duiker, L’Hoest monkeys, blue monkeys, golden monkeys, red river hogs, black and white colobus monkeys and various bird species not forgetting the parks tree species numbering to over 58.
