12 Days Tanzania and Uganda Tour

Day 1: Pick up from airport

Focus East Africa Tours staff will be at Entebbe International Airport to welcome you on your tour to Uganda. He will give brief introduction about 12 Days Tanzania and Uganda Tour, Uganda interesting tour places as he transfers you to your hotel. Rest to shake off jet lag and enjoy the beautiful weather of Uganda. Meal Plan: BB.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

A 12 Days Tanzania and Uganda Tour begins early morning with a hot cup of coffee before checking out of hotel and our safari guide transfers you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You will have a brief stop at equator line crossing point for a cup of coffee and photo opportunity. You will proceed on and have a lunch break in Mbarara town. You will arrive in Bwindi in the afternoon and check into your hotel close to the gorilla trek trailhead. Meal plan: FB

Day 3: Gorilla trekking

Rise at first light, take a hot cup of coffee and the safari guide will escort you to rangers’ office for registration, briefing and making formal gorilla trek preparations. Shortly you will be led into the jungles on the lookout for family of gorilla previously assigned. Once their feeding site is located you will spend approximately an hour admiring, taking photos and listening to moving details about gorilla habits. You will then descend to the start off point and onto your hotel for lunch and relaxation. In the evening you will take a guided community walk to share life experiences with the indigenous people. Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Relax and enjoy your morning sleep till departure to Queen Elizabeth National Park after your breakfast. You will do a wildlife viewing drive on the lookout for tree climbing lions relaxing in giant fig trees after fruitful morning hunt and enjoy a picnic lunch close to large herds of buffalos. The day’s second leg of 12 Days Tanzania and Uganda Tour will resume towards Mweya peninsular and check into your hotel in the evening. Meal plan: FB

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking

Focus East Africa Tours guide will escort you to Fig Tree Camp in Kyambura sector after your early morning cup of coffee to formalize your chimpanzee trek procedures. Shortly the ranger guides will lead you onto the floor of steep gorge along a river line forest; the habitat of families of habituated chimpanzee. You will spend a few hours with them taking photos, listening to moving stories about their habits and admiring their characters. You will return to your hotel in time for lunch and later a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that gets you closest to water wildlife species. You may opt for a late evening game viewing drive or relaxing at your hotel and feel more excitements of Uganda tour. Meal Plan: FB

Day 6: Transfer to Kampala

Get up at first light, take a hot cup of coffee, check out of hotel and the safari guide will be waiting to take you on Uganda wildlife safari of a lifetime. Large herds of elephants, buffalos, waterbucks and several antelope species roam the flat plains alongside prides of lions, leopards, packs of hyenas and lots of beautiful birds. After the drive you will proceed out of the park onto Kampala with a lunch break en route and arrive early evening. You may take a night tour of Kampala city in a live band before retreating to your hotel before midnight. Meal Plan: BB

Day 7: Flight to Tanzania

Very early in the morning our safari guide will escort you to Entebbe International Airport in time for your outbound flight to Tanzania.

On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport your Tanzanian driver will pick you from the airport and transfer you to your Lodge for the overnight at the base of the majestic Kilimanjaro.

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

Very early in the morning our Focus East Africa Guide will transfer you to to Lake Manyara national park.

You will reach your lodge in time for lunch after which you will proceed into the Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive. The location of the park along the western escarpment of the Great Rift Valley with a massive and shallow soda lakes attracts a variety of wildlife species including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, the Lake Manyara unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. Dinner and overnight as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.

Day 9 – Lake Manyara – Serengeti Plains

Day 9 of 12 Days Tanzania and Uganda Tour starts with breakfast then after you will transfer to the Serengeti National Park, through the beautiful high lying farmlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As we leave the highlands behind, and descend into the Serengeti National Park also known as the heart of wild Africa. The Serengeti has endless plains, which roll into the distance as far as the eye can see. You will then proceed to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracting a variety of wildlife which best represents most of the Serengeti’s species.

We reach the park in time for lunch and after which you go for an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park. Dinner and overnight in a standard lodge at the Seronera area.

Day 10 – Full day at the Serengeti Plains

After your early breakfast, we shall go for a morning game drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which twists into the plains south of the Seronera River, some of the wildlife to look out for in this section include the Lions, Thomson gazelles, topi, ostriches and cheetahs.

After your game drive, you will proceed to the Visitor Centre which is close to the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites. The Centre offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The shop also as refreshment, and we shall therefore have our lunch from there.

Later In the afternoon we will drive through the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, this circuit is known for having a number of lions and some very large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. The Kopjes are good hunting grounds for lions especially in dry seasons when most wildlife come to drink up. Dinner and overnight in a lodge at the Seronera area

Day 11 – Transfer from the Serengeti Plains to the Ngorongoro crater

After an early breakfast at the lodge we shall transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. We will stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting with a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here, that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, known as the early men.

We shall arrive at the lodge in time for lunch after which we will descend over 550 meters into the Ngorongoro crater to view wildlife for the rest of the day. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, eland, warthog, zebra, buffalo, hippo, and giant African elephants, lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and leopard. We shall then visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds are usually found here. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 12 – Departure

Enjoy breakfast, after which we will drive back to Arusha. Upon arrival in Arusha will we have lunch and then we will end your safari. There is an optional alternative of having an early game drive before leaving the Ngorongoro crater, this is most suitable for travelers without an early flight.
